Sweet-Hearts

You may have noticed by now that I am a fan of small bites. Things that can be made quickly, efficiently and are easy to eat. That is why these sweet hearts are absolutely perfect for anyone who has an eye for desserts but is short on time. I love this recipe because it's rich, creamy and the level of sweetness can be controlled based on the recipe - which is perfect for a girl like me who doesn't like overly sweet things. It also gives a nice fresh alternative to an overly rich cheesecake. Whether it be a special treat for your friends before a night out or for a night spent in watching a movie, it has always been a crowd pleaser for me.

You're Bacon Me Hungry!

I've always been a fan of combining sweet and salty flavors and it's great to see this become so mainstream within the past couple of years. Now I'm seeing my favorite products on shelves offer salty sweet options! So fabulous.

The recipe I'm bringing to you today, is one for both the candy lover and bacon lover.

My version of candied bacon is extremely easy, even for the novice baker. I typically use maple syrup, as there are few combinations that taste better. Although, I wanted a fresh take on the recipe and was craving a different kind of sweetness. I realized I had some of my favorite pear and cinnamon jam in the fridge and said why not? It ended up being just the right amount of sweet balanced against the saltiness of the bacon.

Rock, Paper, Scissor, LOBSTER!

A few weeks back, a couple of my friends and I went to Rock Lobster Food Co. After hearing about their lobster tail garnish caesars and delectable lobster rolls I was sold!

The restaurant is located at 110 Ossington Avenue and originally started as a pop-up restaurant. The restaurant partners with independent Canadian fisherman that offer ocean friendly, sustainable and fresh seafood options - an initiative I can definitely get behind. With the overwhelming success of the pop-up restaurant and at the Toronto Underground Food Market, owner Matt Dean Pettit decided to open shop.

Chinese Inspired 'Kale' Chips

I'm so excited to be blogging my first pabulum inspired post! I've always been a food lover and am always searching for new flavor experiences. My first recipe was inspired by the recent wave of kale inspired dishes and works perfectly to satisfy my flavor loving taste buds.
