Sweet-Hearts

You may have noticed by now that I am a fan of small bites. Things that can be made quickly, efficiently and are easy to eat. That is why these sweet hearts are absolutely perfect for anyone who has an eye for desserts but is short on time. I love this recipe because it's rich, creamy and the level of sweetness can be controlled based on the recipe - which is perfect for a girl like me who doesn't like overly sweet things. It also gives a nice fresh alternative to an overly rich cheesecake. Whether it be a special treat for your friends before a night out or for a night spent in watching a movie, it has always been a crowd pleaser for me.

Mad for Missoni

Instead of my usual ‘commandments of dressing’ post I will instead be writing about a family driven brand that also happens to be celebrating their 60th anniversary this year! Missoni is an Italian fashion house that is known best for their colorful knitwear and quite an illustrious history.

Legs for Days

Living in a four season climate makes transitioning wardrobe pieces much more challenging, especially with the recent storm we got hit with in Toronto! Despite the chilly weather, I've always been a big fan of integrating shorts into my winter wardrobe - typically with a pair of patterned or colored tights. This upcoming spring/summer season is one that is reaching new lengths, with the return of Bermuda shorts and short suits (blazer/short combo). I'm guessing many of you thought what I initially had when reading 'bermuda shorts' but seeing all the amazingly styled runway looks has gotten me pretty close to investing in a pair. Although, realistically I know this is an incredibly hard trend to pull off without looking stumpy or drawing attention to unwanted areas. And I've always been a firm believer of dressing for one's body type and not adapting a trend just for the sake of looking current. There are many ways to emulate the trend in more flattering ways or opting for some other trends that you enjoy just as much and are more suited for your body and style.

Take a look at my favorite looks from the runway - it was so tough to narrow it down to only three looks:

You're Bacon Me Hungry!

I've always been a fan of combining sweet and salty flavors and it's great to see this become so mainstream within the past couple of years. Now I'm seeing my favorite products on shelves offer salty sweet options! So fabulous.

The recipe I'm bringing to you today, is one for both the candy lover and bacon lover.

My version of candied bacon is extremely easy, even for the novice baker. I typically use maple syrup, as there are few combinations that taste better. Although, I wanted a fresh take on the recipe and was craving a different kind of sweetness. I realized I had some of my favorite pear and cinnamon jam in the fridge and said why not? It ended up being just the right amount of sweet balanced against the saltiness of the bacon.

On Your Mark, Get Set, GO!

Sport inspired trends have been around since S/S '12 (influenced by the Olympic events), through the form of wedge sneakers, anoraks with drawstring details, perforated leather and mesh as well as tapered sweat pants - so bomb. With the spring-summer season approaching, sports has no sign of slowing down it's presence in the fashion world (especially with the Russian Sochi Olympics coming up in 2014). This time around it's taking shape through wedge sneakers, varsity jackets and drawstring trousers with racing stripes.

Here is a round up of my favorite athletic looks from the Spring/Summer runways!

Rock, Paper, Scissor, LOBSTER!

A few weeks back, a couple of my friends and I went to Rock Lobster Food Co. After hearing about their lobster tail garnish caesars and delectable lobster rolls I was sold!

The restaurant is located at 110 Ossington Avenue and originally started as a pop-up restaurant. The restaurant partners with independent Canadian fisherman that offer ocean friendly, sustainable and fresh seafood options - an initiative I can definitely get behind. With the overwhelming success of the pop-up restaurant and at the Toronto Underground Food Market, owner Matt Dean Pettit decided to open shop.

Men, You've Got Some 'Ruff' Competition!

Ever since the appearance of the now infamous Ikea monkey, I've been quite obsessed with fashionably dressed animals! I do feel it necessary to mention, that animals have survived for well over 500 million years without clothes, although there is no harm in having a bit of fun! Especially if the partaker is enjoying themselves as well.
