Instead of my usual ‘commandments of dressing’ post I will instead be writing about a family driven brand that also happens to be celebrating their 60th anniversary this year! Missoni is an Italian fashion house that is known best for their colorful knitwear and quite an illustrious history.

Legs for Days
Living in a four season climate makes transitioning wardrobe pieces much more challenging, especially with the recent storm we got hit with in Toronto! Despite the chilly weather, I've always been a big fan of integrating shorts into my winter wardrobe - typically with a pair of patterned or colored tights. This upcoming spring/summer season is one that is reaching new lengths, with the return of Bermuda shorts and short suits (blazer/short combo). I'm guessing many of you thought what I initially had when reading 'bermuda shorts' but seeing all the amazingly styled runway looks has gotten me pretty close to investing in a pair. Although, realistically I know this is an incredibly hard trend to pull off without looking stumpy or drawing attention to unwanted areas. And I've always been a firm believer of dressing for one's body type and not adapting a trend just for the sake of looking current. There are many ways to emulate the trend in more flattering ways or opting for some other trends that you enjoy just as much and are more suited for your body and style.
Take a look at my favorite looks from the runway - it was so tough to narrow it down to only three looks:

On Your Mark, Get Set, GO!
Sport inspired trends have been around since S/S '12 (influenced by the Olympic events), through the form of wedge sneakers, anoraks with drawstring details, perforated leather and mesh as well as tapered sweat pants - so bomb. With the spring-summer season approaching, sports has no sign of slowing down it's presence in the fashion world (especially with the Russian Sochi Olympics coming up in 2014). This time around it's taking shape through wedge sneakers, varsity jackets and drawstring trousers with racing stripes.
Here is a round up of my favorite athletic looks from the Spring/Summer runways!

Men, You've Got Some 'Ruff' Competition!
Ever since the appearance of the now infamous Ikea monkey, I've been quite obsessed with fashionably dressed animals! I do feel it necessary to mention, that animals have survived for well over 500 million years without clothes, although there is no harm in having a bit of fun! Especially if the partaker is enjoying themselves as well.

Internet Killed the Runway Star?
The realization that runway shows are a luxury of the past has started to settle in for most fashion houses and it has become evident in the past few years. Unfortunately, the exuberant glamour and limitless bounds of luxury fashion does not hold up when economic times are tough.

Stripes Ahoy!
Stripes have always been a favorite trend of mine to wear (I'm a sucker for anything nautical) and with the oncoming resurgence this spring, I am absolutely thrilled! Below are some of my favorite striped looks from the Spring '13 runways.

It's a Sheer Thing
Since it's appearance on Fall 2011 runways, sheers have been in the fore front of many closets. I have no doubt they will be around for the next while, especially with the oncoming spring micro trend - sheer paneling. We can expect to see this beloved trend to take a playful and alluring turn. Here are some looks off the spring 2013 runway from Preen's RTW collection, along with a collection of lust worthy items to help you move into the new season with style!

Winter White
To whomever said "no white after labor day" was missing out on the magic of winter whites! I've always been a fan of wearing white year long, so I'm glad it has recently made a resurgence. (Forecast alert! All white ensembles will be on-trend for Spring '13). Check out this sublime Emilio Pucci Spring RTW 2013 collection for perfect whites, sheer paneling and Japanese influences - two additional trends that will be dominating come spring time.
